Yong Yoong Hui's reported practice spans trusts and estates, tort and commercial evidence, appearing in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court and acting for appellants, respondents and defendants.

A distinct strand is trust and estate litigation. In related Court of Appeal matters arising from a deceased's estate, in which he acted for an appellant and then a respondent, the appeals engaged express trusts and the duties of a trustee, resulting and constructive trusts, the admissibility of hearsay evidence, the burden of proof and adverse inference, and the indefeasibility of title under the National Land Code 1965.

His civil-procedure work includes third-party proceedings. Acting for a defendant, he was engaged on an application to strike out proceedings and on a third-party notice ("Notis Pihak Ketiga") and statement of claim under Order 16 and Order 18 rule 19 of the Rules of Court 2012, on whether the defendants had a right to claim indemnity or contribution from the third party and whether there was a reasonable cause of action.

He also acts in tort. Acting for the appellant, a highway concessionaire, in a Court of Appeal negligence matter arising from a death on a highway, the appeal engaged the statutory and common-law duty to maintain and keep the highway in good repair under the Federal Roads (Private Management) Act 1984, the non-delegable nature of that duty, and whether the concessionaire's patrol arrangements amounted to reasonable care.

He has further appeared at the Federal Court for the appellant in a matter concerning Live Capital Sdn Bhd on questions of evidence — the admissibility of disputed documentary evidence, the burden of proof under the Evidence Act 1950, and the drawing of an adverse inference from a failure to call a witness. The practice combines trusts, tort and commercial-evidence litigation.
